Bilingual Center Manager – Full-Time
Position Title: Bilingual Center Manager
Location: Bronx, East Harlem
Summary: The Center Manager will provide entrepreneurs with training as well as ongoing technical assistance, disburse business loans and manage loan portfolio for entrepreneurs in the Bronx and East Harlem. Additionally, Center Manager will work with local community partners to broker referral relationships and conduct community outreach to attract new entrepreneurs to the program.
Background: Project Enterprise (PE) supports entrepreneurs and small businesses in under-resourced communities in New York City by providing microloans, business development services and networking opportunities. Since the inception of its microloan program in 1997, PE has lent more than $1.9M with only 8% being written off. PE currently serves more than 400 active members in the five boroughs of New York City.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage and expand PE’s peer lending program throughout the Bronx
- Conduct business trainings and provide one-on-one assistance to entrepreneurs
- Grow and manage a portfolio of loans while maintaining a high repayment rate
- Recruit, train, and provide assistance to individuals to prepare them to access loans
- Develop an effective local outreach strategy to recruit borrowers to the program
- Find guest speakers, trainers, and mentors for members
- Conduct site visits to borrowers’ businesses
- Report on loan portfolio, and update loan and impact tracking databases with client information
- Serve a broad geographic area throughout the borough of Bronx
- Coordinate with other Center Managers to develop curriculum offerings for entrepreneurs
Qualifications:
- Commitment to Project Enterprise’s mission of providing loans and business support services to low-income individuals
- High level of motivation, initiative, and resourcefulness. Capable of managing numerous member accounts and working with a rapidly growing loan portfolio while actively soliciting new clients
- Excellent teaching, communication, interpersonal, time management and organizational skills
- Strong math, written and computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Experience mediating between individuals and/or groups
- Previous experience teaching and working with low-income individuals preferred
- Previous business training or experience is helpful, particularly with finance, insurance, community development, or entrepreneurship
- Minimum Bachelors degree
- Familiarity with neighborhoods of the Bronx
Salary: $40,000 - $45,000 DOE. PE offers a generous health plan, paid time off, MetroCard, and 403(b) retirement savings plan.
Standard hours are in the evening: Normal hours from 1pm – 9pm (some flexibility).

Position Title: Bilingual Center Manager (Part-Time)
Location: Brooklyn and Queens
Summary: The Center Manager will provide entrepreneurs with training as well as ongoing technical assistance, disburse business loans and manage loan portfolio for entrepreneurs in Queens and Brooklyn. Additionally, Center Manager will work with local community partners to broker referral relationships and conduct community outreach to attract new entrepreneurs to the program.

- Develop an effective local outreach strategy to recruit borrowers to the program

- Report on loan and client statistics, and update loan and impact tracking databases with client information

Salary: Part-time position of 20 hours per week based on a full-time salary of $42,000. Pro-rated health benefits and vacation time, monthly metrocard. Position can potentially become full-time in 2012.
